The Prominence Project
The Idea
To ski every peak in Nevada, USA with over 3,000‘ of prominence (64 total).
Why?
This project was born out of a desire to lure myself into skiing Nevada’s lesser-visited places.
Nevada offers a rich tapestry of cultural and natural history. This translates to a unique and memorable ski experience, characterized by tranquility, navigational challenges, demanding terrain, aesthetic lines, and breathtaking natural beauty. Get out and experience it for yourself!
What is Prominence?
Prominence is a simple way of quantifying a peak’s relief. It can be thought of as way of measuring a peak’s “dramaticness”.
Nevada has more named mountain ranges (314) than any other state in the Lower 48. Plenty of prominence to go around.

This entire project takes place on Wašišiw Ɂítdeh (Washoe), Newe (Western Shoshone), Shoshone-Bannock, Southern Paiute, Numu (Northern Paiute), and Goshute land. Please do your homework, access to tribal lands may be restricted or require permits/fees.
